The festive season of Navratri is here. Despite having religious origins, the auspicious nine-days of fasting are celebrated as feasting now-a-days. We gorge on lip-smacking munchies and oil-dripping food without caring about our expanding waistlines. To add to the festive fervour, here are a few unique easy to make recipes which can be relished irrespective of the fact whether you are fasting or just want to tantalise your taste buds with the fast special delicacies.

Ingredients
60 gms kuttu ka atta
5 gms kaloungi
80 gms grated boiled potatoes
80 gms grated cucumber
60 gms shredded spinach
80 ml water
Sendha namak to taste
Oil as required for frying

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients and make a thick batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Give a dumpling shape pakodas and deep fry them until they turn golden brown.
  • Serve hot with dahi chutney.

Easy To Make Navratri Dishes

Ingredients
4 boiled potatoes
2 cups yogurt
1 tbsp black mustard seeds
1½ tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red pepper flakes
1 tbsp ghee
2 cups water
Salt to taste

Method

  • Mash potatoes and keep them aside.
  • Mix yogurt and water in a bowl till there are no lumps.
  • Heat oil in a medium size pot. Add black mustard seeds and as soon as they start popping, add turmeric, red pepper flakes and coriander powder. Mix the spices and add potatoes to it. Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Pour the yogurt on the potatoes and mix it well.
  • Wait till the soup boils properly and then add salt.
  • Serve it hot.

Ingredients
250 gms arbi
3-4 tbsp singhare ka atta
1 green chili and ½ inch ginger made into a paste
3 tbsp sabudana
1 tbsp ajwain
Rock salt/sendha namak to taste
Oil as required for frying

Method

  • Boil the arbi in a pressure cooker till it becomes soft. Peel the outer skin.
  • Boil sabudana partially.
  • Mix singhare ka atta, sabudana and arbi and mash them properly. Add green chillies, ginger, salt, ajwain and little bit oil and again mix the ingredients.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Give a desired shaped to the kebabs and deep fry them until they turn golden brown.
  • Serve hot kebabs with green chutney.

Ingredients
1 cup yogurt
3 tbsp walnuts
3 tbsp honey
1 cup peeled and diced apples
A pinch of green cardamom pod

Method

  • Blend yogurt, walnuts, honey and apple in a blender.
  • Add green cardamom powder and mix well.
  • Serve it in a glass and add ice cubes if needed.
