Just Introduced: The Artful Baker, Khan Market

Since my childhood I have always enjoyed going to a bakery. The fragrance of fresh bread, creamy pastries and sour dough sandwiches is incomparable to any other joy in the world. I believe you also agree with me. And this is the reason why so many bakeries are opening up in Delhi. Joining the same league, the latest entrant is The Artful Baker which has taken the standard of a bakery a notch higher.

What is so special about this bakery that it makes it stands out from the other high-end bakeries in the town?  It is a brain-child of Lite Bite Foods and Chef Sahil Mehta, India’s First Certified Bakery, Pastry and Chocolate Expert from Lenotre, France. He is the same man who has helped in establishing many renowned patisserie brands such as Choco Diva, Renaissance, Bread & More and L’Opera.

The European style boulangerie oozes warm vibes with its chic and simple yet elegant interiors. The look and feel of the bakery gives you the same experience as you would enjoy sitting in any bakery in old French town as they have tried to replicate a similar kind of aura.

Just Introduced: The Artful Baker, Khan Market

Already smitten by the savouries crafted by Chef Sahil at a short-term pop-up bakery at Select CityWalk, Saket, I decided to give it a try. I started drooling the moment I entered. Rows and rows of exotic cakes, luxury pastries, artisan breads, melt-in-your-mouth macarons, scrumptious crossiants and other savouries doubled my hunger.

Narrowing down the options, I started with Mushroom and Potato Vol Au Vent. The patty was crisp to the core and mushroom and potato were aptly baked that it melted in mouth. It was followed by Veg Quiche. A layer of seasonal vegetables and cheese sitting on bread with seasonal herbs sprinkled on it made it so scrumptious that it succeeded to hit the right spot. To get the European feel, I paired the binge with a cup of warm coffee.

The sweet indulgence is what I was eagerly waiting for. All the pastries and cakes were a piece of artistic perfection. Good to look at and delectable to eat. I opted for Monte Cristo, Raspberry Melange and Mille Feuille. A pool of chocolate surrounded by crunchy hazelnut mousse dusted with coffee powder and resting on almonds sponge – Monte Ccristo – was a pure sinful indulgence. Raspberry Melange was impressive whereas Mille Feuille was amazing. The apt sweetness with perfect layers of vanilla and custard has made me a fan of this sweet delight for a lifetime.
