The five states on the Southern tip of India are known for their spicy food. Usage of many ingredients like rice, lentils, coconut, tamarind, snake gourd, garlic, ginger and tamarind remain the same but the level of spiciness varies in all these states.

Festival Review: Dravidyatra, NTC, Park Plaza, Noida

I was excited enough to dig into the wonderful flavours from all across South India. The first dish that did wonders with its look and taste was Medhu Pakoda. The dumplings made of gram flour, onions, green chillies, ginger and dallops of ghee were soft and flavourful and tasted best with green coriander chutney.

Next on the table came Kalan Thakkal (Mushroom Curry Chettinad Style), Palakura Pappu (Spinach and Yellow Dal Andhra Style), Urlai Roast (Baby Potatoes Tamil Nadu Style) and Milagu Pirattal (Cauliflower Tamil Nadu Style). The spicy mushroom curry paired well with Malabar Parantha whereas delicious dal tasted heavenly with boiled rice. Potatoes and Cauliflower were also equally good.

The buffet also offers other options like Karnataka Chicken Curry, Andhra Chicken Curry, Kerala Mutton Fry, Vegetable Stew with Appam and a lot more.
