Just Introduced: Jamie’s Pizzeria, Tagore Garden
Enough has been said about British Chef Jamie Oliver’s baby Jamie’s Pizzeria since it opened its first outlet in October last year. But the buzz can be still heard as the quality of pizza that it has been delivering is incomparable. Seems, the smell of fresh dough (used to make the base of the pizza) works as a charmer and attracts us to try it over again. So when, we heard it is coming to the Pacific Mall in Tagore Garden, we grabbed the opportunity to visit and give you a first hand information.
Parked on the third floor of the mall, the pizzeria oozes out homey and comfey vibe, encouraging community dining. The walls of the fun and easy-going place adorn beautiful wall-art which go hand-in-hand with big wooden tables, bright yellow and red chairs and hanging lamps. For those who would love to replicate Jamie’s recipes, there is also a book rack displaying all the books written by the chef. And just to make a special mention that the open kitchen adds to the hunger as you overlook at pizzas being baked freshly.
The menu is a blend of traditional best-selling Italian dishes and some more contemporary dishes with a Jamie and Gennaro twist. And not to forget the way they have paid attention to the humble dough. It reflects in each and every dish starting from the garlic bread to the pizzas.
Without wasting a minute, I ordered Hand-stretched Garlic Bread, Mushroom Fritti and Marinated Fetta and Watermelon Salad. The crispy and flaky garlic bread was coated with garlic butter and rosemary and served with olive tepanade. It taste better than the garlic breads I have tried till now. If you love your food to be a bit greasy, then you will definitely fall for this crispy Mushroom Fritti that is served with their secret Chili Sauce.
To wash it down I had Lychee Spritz. The sweet drink with a fizz provided the right kick to go ahead. Their Marinated Fetta and Watermelon Salad provided a soothing effect as it comes with crispy ginger, chili and mint sprinkled on it.
The most-awaited thing on their menu is their pizzas which are loaded with fresh vegetables. I narrowed down Jamie’s Super Green and Courgette Pomodoro. Jamie’s Super Green with broccoli, spinach, mozarella, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, vegetarian Parmesan and lemon has become my all-time favourite and Courgette Pomodoro with crushed tomatoes, mozarella, courgette, crispy potatoes, roasted red onions, rosemary and parsley stood out to be the star dish of the evening.
Don’t forget to wind up your meal-a-thon with their epic Chocolate Brownie which comes loaded with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream resting on it. The divine taste of this sweet ending comes highly recommended.
