Just Introduced: 52 Janpath, Janpath, CP
Janpath – a shopping paradise for the college kids – is in the revival mode after the circle of Connaught Place. Many restaurant owners are setting up their shops but the one which has been ruling like a king since the day it has opened its door is 52 Janpath.
The entry to the restaurant is from a narrow mysterious lane that transports you to the home away from home that features a cottage style fireplace, whiskey and cigar corner, fully-stocked bookshelf, beautiful artifacts, and tall French windows looking into a quaint little backyard.
Designed much like a large country home, 52 Janpath brings together the rusticity and grandeur of a classic manor, and the quaintness of a homely garden. The overall design aesthetic of the restaurant draws inspiration from medieval architectural style, using period specific building elements like rustic stone walls and limestone flooring combined with down to earth home style interiors, bringing in a touch of modern and industrial treatments in terms of furniture and lights.
The eclectic menu feature selections from a variety of cuisines from all around the world but with a modern spin. The memorable food journey started with Spring Rainbow Quinoa Salad, Columbian Style Beetroot Ricotta Cheese and Quinoa Patty and Lotus Roots and Water Chestnuts. The fresh and crunchy salad was a hearty mix of arugula, avocado, feta cheese, berries, candied walnut and of course quinoa drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with oregano. Their Columbian Style Beetroot Ricotta Cheese and Quinoa Patty served with Kasundi Mango Chutney come highly recommended. The finger-licking delicious chutney was adding a distinctive taste to the patty that was crispy from outside and was melting in mouth. Scrumptious Lotus Roots and Water Chestnuts were wok tossed in sweet and spicy sauce.
Impressed with the starters, we decided to dunk into a few more. Next on the table came Cold Open Wontons, Abruzzo’s Bruschetta and European Parcels. We will be going again for their Cold Open Wontons – a combination of micro herbs topped with the slices of lychee. European Parcels are a must try for the cheese lovers. The fried potlis stuffed with exotic veggies oozes out cheese in every bite.
We paired the meal with Virgin Green Apple and Star Anise Mojito and Expresso Sangria. The mojito was refreshing and we have fallen in an unconditional love with their Expresso Sangria. The melange of flavours – coffee and red wine – is a must try.
Despite being stuffed, we narrowed down Baked Makai Palak. And to our surprise, it was served with a small bowl of Dal Makhani, salad, papad and coconut chutney. The flavourful Baked Makai Palak topped with ricotta cheese came with Tandoori Rotis. This delectable spread will be remembered for time immemorable.
Don’t forget to round off your meal with their Chef Special Ras Malai with Mango. Alphonso and Alpine flavoured rasmali is worth breaking your strict diet regime.
Caution – The more you will eat, the more you will fell in love with the food at 52 Janpath.
