Just Introduced: Tashan, Greater Kailash 2

We all love to live our life in Tashan. But restaurateur Akshay Adya took the T word so seriously that he opened a restaurant called Tashan in the ever-busy Greater Kailash 2 market. You might be thinking what frame of mind he must be in at that particular moment. Maybe a tad bit of a swagger mood! No! He was actually thinking about the recipes to tickle our taste buds with the tashan of his fusion food. Read on to find how much he succeeded to win my heart through food.

Atmospherics

Just Introduced: Tashan, Greater Kailash 2

Relaxing ambience, calm lights, comfortable seating and a sprawling bar in one the corner defines the beauty of this fine-dine restaurant. The soothing music playing the background provides an apt atmosphere to relax and unwind a busy day.

Food Talk

I love the restaurants with the limited menu as this ensures that the diners known the speciality upfront and easily order the meal. And Tashan is a fine example of this initiative. Tempted with the names of the dishes, I ordered Quinoa Salad, Ajwaini Paneer Tikka, Cheesy Broccoli and Tashani Soya Taco as starters.

But to my surprise, chef Jitin Kapur came with Crispy Roomali with Natkhati Chutney and Roasted Tomato and Garlic Chutney as amuse-bouché which provided the right kick to start my mealathon. He also got Adraki Sweet Corn Soup. The rich in taste and thick soup was specially done by the chef for me when he got to know that I am a big fan of sweet corns.

Healthy and gluten free salad was loaded with vegetables like cucumber, bell peppers and onion with olive oil and lime juice drizzled on it. Ajwaini Paneer Tikka was served with Ajwaini Beetroot Chutney and the melt-in-mouth paneer was oozing out smoky flavours. Cheesy broccoli can be a perfect option for cheese lovers like me. Tashani Soya Taco stood out to be the star dish of the evening. The tacos were made with rice batter and tasted just like dosa. It was stuffed with minced jerk soya and served with cheese fondue, tomato salsa, sour cream and coconut chutney. The starters were paired with Tashani Kiwi – a blend of orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and crushed kiwi – and it was very refreshing.

Before I started to hog my main course, a complementary Jaljeera shot was served to clean my palate. The main course comprised of dishes like Gobhi and Spinach Bhurji, Paneer Hungama and three different varieties of dal – Ghar Ki Dal, Dal Peshawari and Dal Makhani – along with a basket of assorted breads. The finely minced gobhi and spinach was very innovative and impressive in taste and Paneer Hungama was crunchy from outside and soft from inside whereas all the dals were so scrumptious that it reminded me of the dal cooked by my grandmother.

I rounded off my culinary sojourn with Bhuni Roti Ka Halwa and Motichor and Rabri Crepes. The twist given to the traditional age old sweets was amazing. The presentation and taste, both deserve a thumbs up.
